Invisalign in Los Angeles, CA

Comfortable, Quality Dental Care You Can Trust

Crooked teeth do nothing for your appearance and can cause problems with your oral health over the long term. If you are looking for a Los Angeles dentist to help you achieve straighter teeth, Suzanne Khalili D.D.S. is the premier choice. Dr. Khalili uses the unique system called Invisalign.

Braces are not just for teens but for anyone who wants to have straighter teeth, improved oral health and a more attractive smile. Crooked teeth and similar orthodontic problems aren’t just a cosmetic issue – they can cause uneven tooth wear, headaches and jaw pain, and these problems can grow worse over time. Badly crowded teeth also increase the risk of tooth decay because they make oral hygiene more difficult. Braces and other orthodontic treatments take advantage of the human body’s ability to change over time by gradually moving the teeth into a new position. Although there are several different systems available, most rely on highly visible wires and metal brackets, which can be irritating to the lips, inside of the mouth and tongue, and which require dietary changes. Invisalign solves all of those problems while straightening your teeth.

Invisalign consists of a clear plastic aligner that fits over the teeth. Custom designed and fitted using special computer software and molds made from your teeth, each aligner is slightly different and moves the teeth the prescribed amount. Invisalign has a number of advantages compared to traditional braces.

  • Visibility: The clear plastic Invisalign aligner is essentially invisible. Most people will not even be aware you are having orthodontic treatment. You can smile, laugh and even have your picture taken with confidence.
  • Removable: Unlike traditional braces, which are cemented to the surface of the tooth, Invisalign is completely removable. Since you can take it out to eat, you have no dietary restrictions (which are common with traditional braces). The aligner can also be removed for sports, so there is no risk of injury to the mouth should you fall or suffer a blow to the face.
  • Oral Hygiene: Traditional wire braces require careful attention to oral hygiene as they provide lots of tiny nooks and crannies for food particles to lodge and promote plaque development. These braces also make it more difficult if not impossible to floss. Since the Invisalign aligner is removable, it allows for normal oral hygiene practices and also allows regular professional cleaning.
  • Fewer Visits: Traditional braces must be adjusted by the dentist, usually every three to four weeks. Invisalign doesn’t require adjustments, since each aligner provides the necessary pressure to move the teeth into position. In most cases, patients who use Invisalign need an appointment only about once every six weeks.

Invisalign is a little more expensive than traditional braces. Although Invisalign works in most situations, there are a few orthodontic problems this system can’t solve, such as severe overbites or extensive gaps between the teeth. It’s a good solution for the majority of people, however.
If you or your child need braces, please contact us. Dr. Khalili can evaluate the situation and make recommendations for treatment.
